What Eclipses Mean for Your Zodiac Sign and How Lunar Nodes Shape Your Life's Journey
Eclipses aren’t just ordinary celestial events—they are powerful catalysts for growth, and realignment. Unlike regular new or full moons, eclipses bring dramatic shifts and revelations, often acting as pivotal moments that realign us with our potential, even when it feels uncomfortable.
But how do these celestial events influence you specifically? Understanding what eclipses mean for your zodiac sign can offer valuable insights into which areas of your life are ripe for change.
The key lies in your rising sign (or Ascendant), which determines the "houses" in your natal chart. Each house represents a specific area of life, such as career, relationships, or personal growth. When an eclipse activates a particular house, it highlights that area, often bringing breakthroughs, closures, or new beginnings.
Eclipses are also deeply connected to the lunar nodes, which reflect themes of release and growth in your life. The South Node represents areas where you may feel familiar but stagnant, while the North Node points toward the opportunities and growth that align with your long-term path. Together, these nodes shape the focus of each eclipse, highlighting where you're being encouraged to let go and where to move forward.

What Are the Nodes and Why Do They Matter?
Think of the North Node as your soul's compass—it pushes you out of your comfort zone toward growth, even if it feels uncomfortable. The South Node, on the other hand, feels like a cozy blanket but can keep you stuck in old habits or patterns. The North Nodes always sits opposite to the South Node. They move in tandem at the same degree. Together, they create a dynamic tension that helps us evolve.
When eclipses occur more closely to the nodes, they amplify these themes on a massive scale, often bringing fated events, major shifts, or illuminations that feel out of our control. The best way to navigate these moments? Embrace the changes, even when they’re hard and not what you "want", and trust that they’re part of your path.
Eclipse Mechanics: Alignments, Nodes, and Their Impact
They occur when the Sun, Moon, and Earth align near the lunar nodes, which are points in the sky representing our collective attention (North Node) and what we’re meant to leave behind (South Node). These are big themes, but don’t worry, we’ll keep it approachable.
The nodes shift into a new axis every 18-19 months, setting the stage for a new cycle of transformation in an adjacent house.
Depending on where these signs fall in your birth chart, and what planets are touched by an aspect (planetary conversation) you’ll experience significant shifts in different areas of your life. Let’s dive into how this plays out and how you can work with the energy of eclipses in any season.
Identifying Houses Impacted by Eclipses - What Area of Life is Implicated?

To find out what eclipses mean for you, follow these steps:
Identify Your Rising Sign. If you’re not sure, this post will guide you through getting your own birth chart like Astro.com to calculate your rising sign based on your birth time, date, and place. Your rising sign will be listed on the left as "Ascendant" after you have created your chart.
You can see here that this person has Ascendant: Capricorn, so they are Capricorn Rising Identify the Eclipse's influence. Know what sign the eclipse in question occurred in. Eclipses are almost always in the same sign as the North Node/South Node. Sometimes new and full moons may occur in an adjacent sign. This is because it is close in degree (how astrologers measure conversations the planets are having) to one of the nodes, but the nodes themselves are close to the end of it's stay in a sign. For now you can use this great link to see what signs and degrees eclipses were from 1945-2050. Very generous of her, thanks Susan!
Check the Houses Activated by Eclipses. Once you know your rising sign, you can match it to the houses affected by the current eclipse cycle.
You can see here the green horse shoe shape outside the circle (The North Node) is transiting the pizza slice with the 7. In this example the North Node is in Aries.
The Dual Energies of Eclipses: Beginnings, Endings, Growth, and Release in the Signs
Here’s a quick example guide for what eclipses in the Taurus-Scorpio axis (2021–2023) might have meant for each rising sign. During an eclipse cycle, events often bounce between beginnings and endings, and between gaining and letting go. A beginning might bring unexpected growth or reduction, while an ending could clear the way for significant progress or reduction.

Eclipse Seasons: Turning Points on Life’s Roller Coaster
Eclipse seasons (two per year) are like cosmic checkpoints where the universe asks: Are you aligned with where you’re supposed to be heading? Sometimes the answer is yes, and other times you get a nudge or a full-on shove off a cliff toward something new.
These moments often bring culminations (full moon, or Lunar Eclipses) or fresh starts (new moon, or Solar Eclipses). While they can feel chaotic, they also bring clarity, helping you see what’s truly important and what you need to let go of.
Understanding How Eclipses Impact You Specifically
The effects of any given eclipse are shaped by the signs involved and the houses they activate in your chart. For example, the Scorpio-Taurus eclipse cycle impacts the fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) most directly because these signs align with the angular houses—those tied to relationships, home life, career, and public roles—for fixed-sign risings. Since these signs are in natural tension with one another, eclipses in these areas often bring heightened intensity.
If an eclipse falls in the same sign (conjunction), the opposite sign (opposition), or three signs away (square), its influence is likely to be more pronounced. However, not every eclipse will feel significant for everyone, as its impact depends on its alignment with key points in your chart.
When the eclipse cycle shifts to Aries/Libra or Pisces/Virgo, the focus will move to different themes based on those signs and their placements in your chart.
For instance:
An Aries/Libra eclipse might highlight themes like individuality, partnerships, balance, and independence.
A Pisces/Virgo eclipse could bring focus to spiritual growth, health, service, and daily routines.
However, these themes play out differently depending on your rising sign and the houses activated in your chart. For one person, these eclipses might bring these thematic changes in areas like "children" or "higher education," while for another, the same thematic changes they might trigger shifts in "career" or "home life."
It ALL depends on the rising sign!
How to Determine Your Eclipse Focus
To understand how an eclipse affects you, start by identifying the signs involved and which houses those signs rule in your chart. Your rising sign is key here, as it determines the house placements for all the zodiac signs. If you’re unsure of your rising sign, consider booking a consultation to decode your chart and uncover the layers of influence eclipses have on your life.
See It In Action - My Experience with the Nodes
I’m a Capricorn rising, but I have Taurus Sun and Scorpio Moon as well as having my MC and IC in that axis. So Taurus and Scorpio rule some of the most significant areas of my life: creativity, and relationships, home, and career or reputation.
During an eclipse cycle on this axis, I suddenly faced an intense decision about my career. At the time, I was working in retail—a role that didn’t align with my deeper purpose.
The eclipse didn’t make the decision for me, but it created emotions so intense I couldn’t ignore them. I literally sat in my car in the parking lot of my job for an hour bawling on the phone to my husband and for some reason that day, I just couldn't do it anymore. Walking away from a underpaying but stable job of 13 years that suddenly felt completely unhinged, but it also freed me to focus on building my own business. Things did not "get better from there" - they got more complex and the story unfolded to reveal spirals of issues related to my public reputation/career and what I need out of a home. Looking back, I see how this difficult choice was the catalyst for a much more fulfilling path but it was hard as fk boy!
Eclipses often force us to confront the question: Who am I when everything familiar is stripped away? They help us see our true selves more clearly, even if the process feels messy.
How to Work with Eclipse Energy
Check Your Chart: Identify which houses are ruled by the eclipse signs to see where major themes might show up.
Reflect and Release: Use the South Node energy to let go of outdated beliefs or habits that no longer serve you.
Step Into the New: Embrace the growth opportunities presented by the North Node, even if they feel daunting.
Keep Perspective: Eclipses are powerful -- they’re part of a larger cycle. Trust that the shifts you experience are leading you toward alignment, even if the path feels unclear right now.
