Roe Overturned - what is next in dystopia

This business expects reproductive rights for women.

I can't even believe that this has to be said. I originally made a decision that both in my business, and generally online that I would reserve any activism or policy comments to my personal conversations, and in real "regular" life only.

This is a choice because it's becoming a constant need in this day and age to make a public statement. I'm just a regular person who makes art, and regular people don't need to make PR statements monthly or biweekly.

I personally think that keyboard activism is dangerous and ineffective. When an individual is online surfing, scrolling, and consuming information they are quick to reply to comments, but they're impacting almost no one in this activity. Many people will call making a post online activism.

I don't believe that's what activism is. I don't believe that making "activism" posts online should "go away". But my issues are two fold.

First, because keyboard activism convinces people that they are "doing something" and "making a stand" but they're just shouting into a void knowing very little facts. This is a quantity not quality approach to activism, in my opinion.

My second issue stems from our general skepticism and (understandable) inability to trust corporations and businesses. They want our money. Many of them want to fool us into believing they're one of us.

Don't tell me you haven't seen anything online criticizing the way that major corporations practice something similar to "gerrymandering" to gain our business, while generally doing very little to lift up a community, sometimes even acting against their best interests.

Gerrymandering definition: manipulate the boundaries of (an electoral constituency) so as to favor one party or class.

to achieve (a result) by manipulating the boundaries of an electoral constituency.

If you ever feel personally offended by me, or my business I want you to know that I'd be happy to hear about it in a direct message, and regardless I'll always respect your right to never hear from me again, and your refusal to participate in a professional connection with me. That is always your right.

But if you don't want to do business with me because I haven't said or done what others are doing, (making a peer pressured statement about something they may or may not actually understand fully), it's a mystery what my thoughts and opinions are, or even because I said something you disagree with -- I invite you to watch my actions, or ask others about me. I have made mistakes. And if you ask the right people they'll tell you about them. But I'm learning just like everyone is.

It is your right to use everything that you know about someone in your assessment of whether or not you want to engage in business with them including the links they share, the content they listen to and make their decisions based on, the companies they support, who they donate to, as well as noticing when they are quiet.

But because I believe the above, and I know that I am accepting, generous, loyal, and thoughtful. I want you to live your best life, I choose to generally not use my business or personal platforms as a place for politics. You can name it and call it privilege, if you need to. But I don't desire to be involved in your personal affairs. I don't desire you involved in mine.

I desire to see the success of my woman-centric business.

I desire to create art integrated with the most beautiful, sacred, and ferocious medium - the female form and spirit.

It should go without saying that women fucking own their bodily autonomy, because everyone owns their body autonomy. You want to do drugs, and drive recklessly, self harm, or reject life saving medications that's your choice for your body and your lifespan, but you do it away from everyone else where you can't hurt them along side.

The super majority of Americans believe safe abortion needs to be an option. Whether that's for the benefit of an unprepared parent, saving a mothers life, violence, or other horrific or just generally permanent life changing result of continuing a pregnancy toward completion -- even if completion means death. https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/2022/05/06/americas-abortion-quandary/

I spent the weekend trying to gain an understanding of what this meant, like most people. I saw a lot of scary potentials, a lot of what-ifs, a lot of explanations, a lot of opinions. Tiktok was nearly exclusively showing me content and information about the Roe result and seeing silly stuff, or celebrities felt super out of place.

It didn't hit me at first that I live in a state that it is suddenly illegal to control the direction of my life now, should my husband and I - who have been together for nearly a decade, and have already watched a child walk across the graduation stage - find ourselves pregnant.

I am only 31, mostly healthy thankfully, but I have a long ways til menopause. We're done and doing what we can to avoid it happening but 45 percent of pregnancies are unplanned and likely they weren't all for lack of trying to protect. https://www.brookings.edu/research/preventing-unplanned-pregnancy-lessons-from-the-states/

I know that there are horrific things ahead, if this was on the table.

One of the things that I heard in my tik-tok roe wade binge was a list of other previous cases they are looking to review. The Roe case was about privacy as much as it was about abortion.

Up next on Justice Thomas' list are your access to contraceptives, privacy in the bedroom (do you realize what this means? This means your right to have sex outside of marriage with no intention of getting pregnant??), and the right for same sex marriages. https://www.npr.org/2022/06/26/1107591849/roe-6-political-questions-supreme-court

Why is this all suddenly happening? Why aren't we usually concerned about rights being taken away and then suddenly, literally over night, they're gone? We nearly got no notice of this, and women find out they're pregnant every day.

Stare decisis is a legal doctrine that obligates courts to follow historical cases when making a ruling on a similar case. Stare decisis ensures that cases with similar scenarios and facts are approached in the same way. Simply put, it binds courts to follow legal precedents set by previous decisions (and higher courts).

In Latin in means to stand by decisions made. It's a critical piece of your constituency (us citizens) feeling secure in their lives and livelihoods, and gives the feeling that they can enjoy life and liberty in the political landscapes they live in.

Do you believe that you'll wake up some day and lose your right to a life that you've built in name of "the pursuit of happiness" in the United States of fucking America?

Land of the free and home of the brave is insulting. Land of the more free than others. Land of the morally depraved power hungry. Land of the Vultures.

I'll tell you why I say that. It's not just about "corporate america" and their justice themed marketing campaigns, or politicians who wait out protests and accept lobby funds and favors.

It's more than that. It's the display of yearning for a hierarchy where people who have little or nothing to offer can still be higher up than others with little or no work or ethics. It's easy to be fearless when you're lucky enough to be shaping society to your particular favor, and even easier when you have money and connections to go far.

Texas Senator John Cornyn retweeted a tweet from Obama about the ruling, and said "Now do Plessy vs Ferguson /Brown vs Board of Education."

(If you can't place these previous court cases, these are the courts cases that racial equality is built on -- its not slavery, but it's what the segregation laws are USING to ensure we remaining or striving toward equality.

This would allow Texas [and potentially others, obv] to regress back to a segregated culture scape. (Clear and fucking obvious ethics aside I do not UNDERSTAND this from a practical point of view -- everyone's money is green... why segregate your population??)

This man is a publicly elected official in Texas and he feels confident enough to take this monumental shift in precedent impacting every single woman not only in his state but in his nation, and take it even further - 'lets regress back to the life scape of 1896. You know the good ol'e days' - PUBLICLY.

This "really sucks" because more and more people are literally at the end of their rope with BOTH political parties. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=walk+away+from+the+left

People, especially Gen X and Millennials, are frustrated with the democratic party, but can't get behind voting GOP (makes sense).

It's interesting that this topic is suddenly coming up amidst many people publicly expressing their inability to continue to go along with the democratic party because they're so regularly falling short with whats in their stump speeches.

And now look -- an blue emergency has come up. Shocking.

Since we've gotten more and more blue we've had more and more attacks on our freedoms. In 2020 it was race and violence, 2021 it was queer rights, and in 2022 its women? I mean, I'll go get my tinfoil hat and wear it for you proudly. Shit's falling apart out here.

Anyway, a comment I saw that many who are participating in comment section activism were using was "elections have consequences". Some were using it to support the overturn, and some were using it against the electoral college.

The way this happened though was Bush and Trump were elected by the electoral college, but not the popular vote - meaning that their policies are less likely to fall in line with the general population.

Adding to the feeling of helplessness of the voters was the hypocritical appointments that allowed Donald Trump to install 3 of his personal choices for SJC. One person has 3 friends on the top, you say?

You likely know, but in case you don't, SCJ's hold their office for life, and they're not elected by the constituents that they rule -- sorry preside -- over.

The telephone game between citizens and the top of the federal government branches is long -- there is a big, multilayered complex gap between the will of the majority of people and the actions of the top rulers in nation - especially those who are tenured -- and talk about a time gap.

How much will this supreme court unravel the way of living in the US before their terms end? Amy Coney Barrett is only 50. Typically, I'd celebrate such youth in politics but considering the nature of her appointment...

Top politicians and justices are the messengers of the real rulers, and who they serve is endless wealth. Yes, they are rulers. They're not a collection of our most capable peers, people. They're intelligent business people with interests, and I don't mean hobbies.

They (SCJs) typically are bound to stare decisis. But these ones apparently aren't interested in standing by the previous decisions of appointed SJC's who helped our grandparents, aunts and uncles, and their parents establish freedoms and privacy from our ever growing government. Government will take a mile when you give it an inch.

I agree that we need to reassess our rules periodically, especially as we notice injustices.

But that's what its for. We don't take rights from one and give them to another.

We do not give a woman's ability to control her life to a the 45% chance that a pregnancy is unplanned, or the state and the voters in that state. Just like we do not give the state the ability to control the life outcome of a black person, or a trans person, gay person.

We do not give rights, and take them away. We fight for more rights. We get MORE RIGHTS here. We don't sit idly by and watch while they install a government that reduces us to a herd of dairy cows.

We do not fight to take the rights away from others in the United States. We do not let our contempt for others and their choices to live a life irrelevant to us impact the rules that apply to all.

We choose who we interact with. We choose who we engage with, and build our life around. You always have the choice to remove yourself if you're constantly battling with your salvation after being around the people you keep in your life. I've done it to many. And others have done it to me.

Its your choice. It's a beautiful thing, choice.

To those celebrating the regression and especially those looking toward the threats ahead from a rogue Supreme Court, my message to you is hatred masked in piousness and a greed of power over others is toxic, but it's your choice to poison your life and everyone you love in it, but you will not legislate it.

If you must hate, you will do so silently, minding your own fucking business, never interacting with those you hate.

Astrologically this looks like a death rattle from the patriarchy (Pluto in Capricorn will enter Aquarius the sign of the people in 2023, but is long from leaving Capricorn behind - I think around 3 years, and that will have it's own difficulties that will become more clear between 2023 and January 2044 -- yes a full two decades.

Some of the best advice I heard from my tiktok binge was that this is a marathon not a sprint.

They think we're too busy barely fucking surviving, and decompressing from our very chaotic life filled with anxiety -- numbing ourselves with technology and drugs to actually care. As long as we have such an addictive vice we're likely to get tired and go home, and just accept what they give us.

Lately it's "every day its something new" -- since covid started it's been death, isolation, fear, unemployment, short staffing, gas prices, BABY FORMULA, food shortages, feed costs, burning farms, wildfires, oil spills, scandals, leaks, violence, shootings.

If you're on my side of the internet you might be hearing spiritual content creators saying "we're here to move the world into the next dimension! We're the chosen ones! It's gonna be hard but you're a spiritual warrior!"

I believe that, I do. But you gotta go out and make it happen. It's not gonna happen through daily meditations. Those daily meditations are for you, to recharge you, not to energetically heal the earth and humankind.

You came to earth to be human, you're supposed to play the human's game, and use the unspoken human rules -- not the published ones -- and that is one of force, intellect, and digging and exposing, sharing and outlasting.

They know you're tired. They don't give a fuck. And they don't give a fuck about cutesy signs and protesting chants once a month. We were fighting for a maternity leave and women's equality during the women's rights marches and looks like that earned us a middle finger and the overturn of Roe v Wade with the advice to "vote in your midterms!"

Thanks, thanks a lot, slightly-democratic-process that works extremely poorly in the age of misinformation.

If you want to make a real difference because you're not going to sit by while they make your life and freedoms more and more razor thin, dangerous, and unpredictable, than you'll have to prepare for a marathon.

I know it sucks, and you're afraid, everyone is afraid, but after the fear stage you reach anger and once you find anger you'll find a way to force your enemy into conceding to what you require.

We're not requesting our rights, we are requiring them to be not only restored, but expanded and codified.

Though I wonder, how long until no precedents or previous decisions will defend our sovereignty as individuals against our power hungry superiors in the United States, of Divided America.
